HOW TO QUALIFY FOR THE WSOP MAIN EVENT

HOW TO QUALIFY PERSONALLY FOR THE WSOP MAIN EVENING

The World Series of Poker Main Event, the most prestigious of all poker tournaments, is the biggest. But how can you qualify? We will be breaking down the process to earn your spot in the World Series of Poker Main Event. This is your guide to help you win your way to Las Vegas and following the footsteps of Jamie Gold and Chris Moneymaker.

While the 2020 World Series of Poker will be many months away, online qualifying is already available at  in selected US states. Play your way to the 2020 WSOP poker action Las Vegas at Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino with online qualifiers.

RECORD-BREAKERS

Despite being the second-highest WSOP Main Event Field in poker history, it is not enough. With a record 8,773 player field in 2006 being the current record, the class for 2019 was close to breaking that record with 8,569 players placing the $10,000 buyin by one of the methods.

As of Bonfire Night, four states offer online poker (New Jersey and Nevada joining Delaware as of 4th November), and players can access WSOP. This will allow them to make the 2020 WSOP main a record-breaking 9,000+ entries. That would be a wonderful way to celebrate the 51st WSOP.

SPINNING SATELLITES

Online qualifiers are in full swing with Nevada and New Jersey offering $215-entry satellites, which offer a minimum one seat guaranteed to 2020 WSOP Main Event. While player demand will not reverse the effects of Black Friday immediately, it can be used to pressure providers to offer as many qualifiers as they can.

For next summer's Main Event, qualifiers for the main event began in October 2019. This means that more players will be able to participate than ever before. Although online poker isn't yet allowed across America, it has proven difficult for home-based players to access the Las Vegas World Series of Poker (rather the World Series of Poker Europe). However, there are still millions of players worldwide who aspire the same goal as Doyle Brunson and Hossein Ensan in 2018, 1976, and 1977.

The $80 all in satellites that the WSOP hoped would bring thousands of players to it began to run last November. But they didn’t fill up like many expected. That needs to change this year. Chris Moneymaker is known for qualifying via an online satellite to the 2003 Main Event. But that was before Black Friday. Online poker has given Rest of the World players the ability to satellite into the 202 WSOP Main Event.

NEW YEAR POSSIBILITIES

Players will start scheduling their qualification for the WSOP as a'must-do' with mega-satellites starting in 2020 and a more real countdown beginning to the return World Series.

One aspect that has changed in qualifying for the WSOP Main Event is the change from large packages that included hotel stays, airfares and spending money to straight-up $10,000 for each winner.

This change is important. This change reflects that many satellite players will be attending the WSOP regardless of their status. It also shows that extras to the $10,000 entry no longer are necessary. Is it more of a goal to play in a WSOP Event than a holiday or bucket-list wish?
