Learn How to Play Poker

 Learn how to play Poker!

I find it amazing that so many people don’t know how play poker. I played since I was 10 years old, and I thought I’d teach you how to play to make sure you can lose your money at casinos. That sounds good, right? Let's go! I'm going teach you how play 5 Card Draw, Texas Hold'Em, Texas Stud, Texas Stud, Texas Stud, and Blackjack. Some people consider this a form of poker.

Note: Although I wouldn't attempt to cheat anyone, these bettors can get insane. This is very crazy. Do not try it. Be honest and be kind. Cheating spoils the game.

Notice: I don't say to bet/post blinds/ante if you're not betting. Ok? Okay?

To play the majority of types poker you will need:

1 Deck of Cards. Brand doesn't matter. However, I prefer Bicycles. If you play with several people, more decks may be needed.

You should play with at least 3 people if you want to make money. If not, you can play by yourself but it's not very enjoyable. You should have at least one friend, but the more the merrier.

Optional: A card table is possible, but regular tables can be used and you'll need somewhere to place your cards.

Optional: Money, if betting.

There are many words. Some words mean different things. Here are some that are most important:

Ante - The first amount of money, which is usually very small, that a player puts up in a game. If they wish to be dealt with, all players must make this deposit.

Fold - to remove a hand. It's as simple as throwing your cards away. This is possible at any time during the game.

Check - It's not always possible but you can try again if you don't feel like you have the best hand.

Call - When someone places a bet, you can say "Call" to have the same amount put up as him and proceed to the next round.

Raise – If you are a raiser and someone is betting a certain amount and you feel you have an outstanding hand you can bet as much as the person did.

Capped betting: This is when you can no longer place bets and you can only make calls. This happens after 4 raises or once the limit is reached.

Bluff - When a player does not have a very strong hand but still bets like crazy, it makes it appear like he does. Be aware - this does not always work! People do this even if they have a great hand, but lack the funds.

These are the hands, from worst to most:

Nothing! (If each player has nothing, the player who has the highest number of cards wins.

Pair (Like two 2s, two 5s, two Aces, etc.)

Two-Pair (similar to having a couple of 2s and a couple of 7s).

Three of a type (like three 6s or so)

Straight (All of your cards are in an order, such as 3-4-5-6-7.

Flush means that all of your cards are the same suit, such as all hearts.

Full House is like three 8s plus two, which would be equivalent to eight full of

Four of a Kind: four 5s, four Aces (ideal!)

Straight Flush (a combination straight flush and flush, so, for example, 7-8-9-10-10-J, all clubs)

Royal Flush (AK-Q-J-10 all in the same suit, this hand is the most difficult to obtain in regular poker).

Playing with wild cards would result in 5 of a sort being the highest-ranking hand.

Two hands will be raised if there is more than one. Imagine this match-up:

J-JJ-4-4 against J-4-4-4-J. This is possible only when there are more than one deck. The hands have the same high cards, but you need to consider the value of tripled cards. The first hand wins because Jacks are better than 4s. BBC Teaches Poker Lesson on How to Be a Better Player
