Roulette Rules, Odds, Chances and Payouts

Roulette Rules, Odds and Chances. Payouts

How to play Roulette

Roulette is played on a rotating wheel that has 37 or 38 numbered pockets. Each turn of the wheel sees the wheel spinning in one direction while the ball is being launched in the other. These games can either be played in a walk-in casino or online.

Before each turn, bets may be placed on which number of the ball will land. Bets can be placed either on a single number or on multiple combinations that offer different payouts and chances.

The original roulette game was created in Paris in 1796. While the ball bounces around, it is worth considering whether you will have caviar or cornflakes for breakfast.

Let's take another look.

EUROPEAN TABLES (single zero)

The European standard table includes 18 pockets (numbered 0), 18 black and 18 red pockets, as well as one green pocket (numbed 0), making it 37 pockets.

You can bet on any number and get 35/1. If you wager $1 on a number, your payout is $35 plus $1 from your initial stake. That's $36 total.

There are 37 pockets. Only one pocket can win. Your chances of winning are 1/37. On a fair wheel*, for every $37 that you wager, you will get $36 back.

This is illustrated by putting $1 on each number. This will cost you $37. But when the winning number pays out $36 and the rest lose, you've just lost $1.

The average European roulette house edge is at $1 per $37 bet. This is 2.7%. Most UK players prefer blackjack, roulette and table games. Australian players prefer to play online pokies, which is the Australian equivalent of slots.

You can play Indian online roulette using the same rules listed on this page. Check your laws to ensure you are playing at a legal casino.

While not everyone can calculate the odds that they will win at casino games, if you are a player who is open to having fun and hoping Lady Luck is on your side, there will be plenty of casino games online. American tables have a second green pockets, the double zero. This doubles the house advantage.

Some casinos have specific rules regarding zero pockets. They will only take half the money if you wager on all the odd numbers. Nearly all the top online casinos offer European and American roulette for real-money gambling action. Make Money With Double Or Nothing Roulette
