Racing tips: The best bets Monday June 20

Racing tips: Monday, June 20th: The Best Bets

It's back to the bread and butter stuff after Ascot. What could be more British summer racing than Southwell's jumps meeting?

The rain that fell Saturday didn't reach the ground so it won't be as bad as usual.

Prestige Safety Nationwide H&S Support Handicap H&S Handicap Hurdle is competitive enough. Viking Ruby, her favourite, has a chance of dropping in grade for a yard going good, but it's been awhile since she won one. She isn't the type to flatten without winning these days.

I was last time with Lemon T and, although he ran decently, I felt that he had plenty going in his favor and would not hesitate to give him another chance. Robeam has a chance, having made it all the way two starts ago. But an uncontested lead is not a given this year with Abingdon Park in field. He looks to have little in his hand from his current mark.

Two starts ago Matchmaking gave this column a great turn. Huntingdon followed up, but it didn't seem to have much left at the end. Huntingdon is another horse that must improve his game to defy the assessor. Some of the horses in form are looking more vulnerable now than they did at first glance. It might be worth giving the unexposed GRANIE ANE a chance at weights.

Adrian Keatley's mare came in sixth at this novice hurdle. Although that may have upset her, she still managed to travel remarkably well that day. She was always on the back and held out until the horses of higher ratings took over.

At the beginning of the month, her handicap debut at Hexham saw her finish last among seven finishers. However, that doesn't tell all. She was right at the back of field when she made a mistake in the penultimate race, just as a funereal pace began to pick up. Although she finished in a poor position, she did pass one competitor (pulled up) and was not beaten at all.

This form is obviously suspect. However, she is also the one most compromised by how it was run. She stayed on the line well into the night to suggest that improvement would be made another day.

Brian Hughes is a striking choice to take over as a claimer. She has only had four starts so far but is open to learning. She's had a couple runs over the hurdles and is able to handle them very well, so she has more to love than what first seems.

The problem is her price. Her odds of winning are only 12/1 with the firms but 25/1 on the exchanges. We will then go with the SP, remembering that we have to take four places at the many firms offering these terms.

There are many firms that offer additional places in the Noel Whelan Handicap. However, there doesn't seem to be much depth for this handicap between 0-65 and 0-6, so few can be considered.

Woodlands Charm is the top-ranked horse on that list. She won a slightly stronger handicap last month at Ripon and has consistently placed efforts on contrasting grounds. While she is undoubtedly the best, there is an alternative. I believe MUSICAL MYSTERY is a potential improvement to the field. MUSICAL MYSTERY was fifth in the 0-75 handicap at Salisbury last year, where the second- and fourth placed horses have been since.

He flew-jumped from the stalls and took a while before he got on an even keel. He was still last at half-way and it seemed like the jockey was content to finish out the back. However, when he was finally pulled to the side just over a furlong from the end, he began to pass rivals. He was defeated by just four lengths, with only a little bit of running remaining at the finish.

He was rated at 71 for the contest. Since then, the race has seen many winners. Although he didn’t improve and dropped back to maiden company at that track last time, his professional attitude towards racing close up meant he was still in the running until the last quarter furlong.

He split a pair that was rated 73 and 72 in the maiden. While it isn’t an easy form to weigh up in that form, he does appear potentially thrown into it based on his ability to drop to 67 and down considerably in class.

Crowley is back aboard again, which indicates that he was looking for more after riding the Showcasing horse gelding. Also, backing Crowley's mounts in C&D to a SP tenner would give you PS861.50 over the years. horse betting tips be a sure winner
